Job Description
ABOUT THE ROLE

We are a Los Angeles-based luxury watch and fine jewelry dealership. Our clients spend five and six figures on a single purchase, and almost every one of those conversations happens in writing — marketplace messages, text threads, and website inquiries. Right now, one person handles all of it. We need a second.

You will be the voice our clients read. That means your written English cannot be good for a second language. It needs to read like a sharp, articulate American professional — warm without overdoing it, concise without sounding abrupt. No stiff phrasing, no template energy, no over-formality.

You do not need to know anything about luxury watches — we will teach you the product, the policies, and the workflow. Experience in luxury goods, high-value e-commerce, or premium retail is a real plus, but it will never outweigh how you write. We cannot teach you how to write, how to read a room, or how to sense when a buyer is hesitating.

You will not be working the night alone. We already have a team in the Philippines, and you will join it with guided training, reviewed replies, and increasing independence as you demonstrate accuracy and sound judgment.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Answer inbound Chrono24, eBay, website, and text inquiries using verified product information — asking useful questions and guiding buyers toward a clear next step
• Handle offers within approved pricing and terms, protecting negotiating room and keeping the conversation respectful
• Follow up on conversations that have gone quiet. As you develop, help reconnect with past clients
• Escalate exceptions with a concise summary, the facts you verified, and a recommended reply ready for approval
• Prepare Canva invoices and FedEx shipping labels from approved transaction details — checking prices, reference numbers, recipients, and addresses before submitting for review
• Hand off unresolved conversations cleanly before ending your shift, and coordinate internally when the same buyer reaches us through multiple channels

Routine questions you answer from approved information. Pricing outside your authority, holds, disputed condition, authenticity concerns, and unusual payment or address requests go to the senior advisor for approval.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Flawless written English — grammar, tone, rhythm, and instinct
• Prior experience communicating with clients in writing: chat, email, sales, support, or account management
• Commercial judgment. Someone offers well below asking and you neither cave nor insult them. You can tell when a buyer is hesitating and move the conversation forward without discounting or pressure
• Accuracy with prices, specifications, reference and serial numbers, invoices, and shipping details. You verify what you do not know instead of guessing
• Knowing the limits of your own authority. Escalating well matters more here than being fast
• Dependable handoffs, prompt flagging of your own mistakes, and feedback applied the first time
• Curiosity about the product, discretion with client information, and long-term intent. We are building a team, not filling a seat

SCHEDULE

Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM US Pacific, 40 hours per week. In the Philippines those shifts land Tuesday to Saturday:
• 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM Philippine time during US daylight saving, roughly March to November
• 1:00 AM – 9:00 AM Philippine time during US standard time, roughly November to March

Please apply only if a permanent night schedule genuinely works for your life. This is the single most common reason these roles fail, and we would rather you self-select out now than burn out in month three. Prior experience on US hours helps.

YOUR SETUP

Going dark mid-shift is not survivable in this role.

• A computer that comfortably runs multiple browser tabs, messaging tools, and Canva
• Primary internet of at least 25 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up, plus a usable backup such as mobile data or a second provider
• Backup power for both your computer and your internet equipment — tell us how long your setup actually lasts in an outage
• A quiet, dedicated workspace. You will be handling live client conversations
If your connection or power fails: notify the team immediately on the agreed backup channel, switch to your backup setup, and arrange coverage if you cannot resume. Communicating the problem is part of the job.

COMPENSATION AND GROWTH

• $800 USD per month to start. Straight salary, no commission.
• A paid one-week trial at the equivalent of your full salary rate. It is structured so you build up gradually rather than being dropped into live client work on day one
• A formal performance and compensation review at 90 days. An increase is not automatic. It is earned on: accuracy of replies and documents, response time during your shift, dependable follow-up and handoffs, quality of your escalation drafts, and how many routine conversations you handle correctly without senior intervention
• Paid time off after probation and paid Philippine holidays. The PTO allowance, probation length, pay schedule, and holiday coverage are specified in the written offer before your trial

We value mistakes caught and reported early far more than a spotless record with surprises in it.

CONFIDENTIALITY AND OUTSIDE WORK

• Your scheduled hours require your full attention, with no overlapping paid work
• No concurrent work for another watch or jewelry dealer, no personal buying or selling of watches or jewelry for resale, and no soliciting our clients for outside business
• Unrelated work outside your scheduled hours is fine as long as it does not affect your availability or performance here
• Client names, purchase histories, pricing, and internal records stay confidential. A confidentiality agreement and system access are completed before any trial work touching real client information

HOW TO APPLY

Start your subject line with MERIDIAN so we know you read this all the way through. Applications without the correct subject line, or the section below, will not be read.

Write four replies exactly as you would send them to a real client. Write the actual message, not a description of what you would say. Use only the facts given — do not invent policies, product details, guarantees, or approvals. Keep each reply under 100 words, and write them yourself.

1. A watch is listed at $22,000. A new buyer opens with: “Best price? Cash today.” No greeting, no other context. You can confirm the listing price and ask questions, but any discount needs advisor approval.
2. A client you have never spoken to writes: “How do I know this is real and not a fake? No offense but I’ve been burned before.”
3. Ten days ago a client told you they were “very interested” in a piece and would confirm by the weekend. They have not replied since. Write the message that reopens the conversation.
4. A client asks you to hold a $40,000 watch for a week with no deposit while he sells another watch, and hints he will walk if you say no. You cannot approve a hold and the advisor has not reviewed it yet.

Then a short introduction covering:
• Your relevant written client-service or sales experience
• Why a permanent night shift works for your situation
• Your earliest start date, and confirmation that the $800 monthly starting salary works for you
• Your computer, primary and backup internet, and how long your backup power actually lasts

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Shortlisted candidates do a short live writing exercise — about ten minutes, at a time we arrange with you. We send you several client messages from our inbox and you reply to them. No preparation and no generative AI. It is the same work you would be doing on the job, which is exactly the point.

Strong candidates go to a reference check. We ask former employers about your written client work and your reliability on a night schedule, so please have two contactable references ready.

From there, a paid one-week trial at your full rate. It is staged, so nothing lands on you cold:

• Days 1–2: reading. Our written standards, our policies, and a few hundred real past client threads so you can hear how we sound
• Days 3–4: you draft replies to live inquiries. Our senior advisor reviews everything before it sends, so you can be wrong without consequence
• Day 5: you start sending directly on routine conversations, with the harder ones still drafted for approval

You get feedback every day, not at the end. We are watching how quickly you pick up the voice, how you handle correction, and whether your judgment holds up when a conversation gets awkward. If it is working, we move you onto the full role at the end of the week.

Thank you for your time!
