**About the role**

Thread Traders is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Pre-Press Graphic Designer to create professional apparel mockups and prepare production-ready artwork for Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing.

You’ll take customer logos, designs and briefs through to clear approval proofs and accurate final artwork. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys preparing artwork, solving file issues and getting the details right before a job reaches production.

We’re looking for approximately 3–5 years of relevant graphic design or pre-press experience, including practical experience preparing artwork for apparel printing. Embroidery digitising and screen-print artwork setup would be a bonus.

**What you’ll do**

- Create professional garment mockups showing artwork placement, print dimensions and garment colours.
- Prepare customer approval proofs and complete revisions accurately.
- Review incoming artwork and identify anything that needs fixing before production.
- Clean up logos and images, remove backgrounds and redraw or vectorise artwork where appropriate.
- Prepare DTF artwork at the correct dimensions, resolution, transparency and file format, following our production specifications.
- Check fine details, small text, edges and transparency for potential printing issues.
- Prepare DTF gang sheets where required, checking spacing, quantities and layout.
- Follow our colour-management and white-ink requirements, working with production to resolve artwork issues.
- Check that final production files match the approved proof and order details.
- Keep source files, proofs and production exports organised with clear file names and version control.
- Manage your artwork queue, meet agreed deadlines and communicate early when information is missing or a job needs clarification.
- Where your skills allow, assist with embroidery digitising and screen-print artwork setup.

**What we’re looking for**

- Approximately 3–5 years of experience in graphic design, pre-press or print production.
- Demonstrated experience preparing artwork for DTF printing.
- Strong Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills.
- Confidence working with vector and raster artwork.
- A sound understanding of artwork sizing, resolution, transparency and print-file preparation.
- Experience creating apparel mockups and customer approval proofs.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to check your own work.
- Clear written English and reliable communication.
- The ability to manage multiple jobs and work independently.
- A suitable computer, reliable internet connection and availability for 38 hours per week.

**Bonus skills**

- **Embroidery digitising:** Preparing production-ready stitch files, with an understanding of stitch types, density, underlay, pull compensation and different garment fabrics.
- **Screen-print artwork setup:** Preparing colour separations, spot colours, trapping, underbases and halftones.
- DTF gang-sheet preparation.
- Familiarity with RIP software and white-underbase settings.
- Preparing DTF halftones and handling artwork with gradients or partial transparency.
- Experience working with Australian apparel or printing businesses.
- Experience using order-management systems or shared artwork queues.

Embroidery digitising and screen-print setup skills are valued, but are not essential. Strong apparel mockup and DTF artwork preparation skills are the priority.

Your mockups are clear and accurate, your production files match approved artwork, and jobs move through the artwork stage on time. You spot problems before they reach printing, maintain organised files and keep the team informed when something needs clarification.
