PROPERTY DAMAGE SPECIALISTS

Champion Injury Attorneys is seeking an experienced Property Damage Specialist to manage our clients’ property damage claims from beginning to end. In your down time assist case managers.

This is a dedicated property damage position supporting our case managers and clients. We are looking for someone who already understands plaintiff side property damage claims and can independently move files forward without waiting to be told what the next step is.

The right person understands that property damage is often one of the first serious problems a client faces after a collision. Our clients may be without transportation, dealing with a totaled vehicle, facing storage charges, waiting on repairs, or trying to understand an insurance company’s position. We want someone who takes ownership of those problems, communicates clearly, and works toward a prompt and favorable resolution.

Responsibilities
The Property Damage Specialist will be responsible for managing assigned property damage claims from beginning through final resolution, including:
• Open and manage first party and third party property damage claims
• Communicate directly with clients regarding the status of their vehicles and property damage claims
• Communicate and negotiate with insurance adjusters
• Obtain photographs, estimates, repair information, police reports, vehicle information, and supporting documentation
• Coordinate vehicle inspections and appraisals
• Assist clients with repair claims and repair facility issues
• Handle total loss claims from beginning through resolution
• Review total loss evaluations for accuracy
• Review vehicle valuations, comparable vehicles, mileage, options, condition, and other factors affecting value
• Challenge inaccurate or unreasonable total loss valuations when appropriate
• Negotiate property damage settlements
• Assist clients with rental vehicles
• Address rental extensions and unreasonable rental termination issues
• Handle loss of use claims when appropriate
• Address towing and storage issues
• Work to prevent unnecessary storage charges and avoidable delays
• Communicate with body shops, tow yards, rental companies, lienholders, insurance companies, and other parties involved in the property damage claim
• Help clients obtain payment once the property damage claim has been resolved
• Follow through until repairs, total loss payments, rentals, and related property damage issues are completed
• Prepare and timely file California DMV SR 1 Reports of Traffic A ---------- Occurring in California when required
• Prepare and submit SR 6 documentation when appropriate
• Monitor DMV related deadlines and confirm required filings have been completed
• Maintain accurate file notes, documentation, follow up dates, and status updates in the case management system
• Keep the assigned case manager informed of significant developments
• Immediately escalate unusual coverage issues, liability disputes, unreasonable carrier conduct, or other issues requiring case manager or attorney involvement
• Confirm that the property damage portion of the file is properly completed before closing it out
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate has:
• At least 2 years of successful property damage experience at a plaintiff personal injury law firm
• Strong knowledge of California automobile property damage claims
• Experience handling both repairable vehicles and total losses
• Experience reviewing and challenging total loss evaluations
• Knowledge of rental claims and loss of use
• Experience handling towing and storage issues
• Experience communicating and negotiating with insurance adjusters
• Familiarity with California DMV a ---------- reporting requirements, including SR 1 filings
• Strong follow through and organizational skills
• The ability to manage multiple active property damage claims at the same time
• Excellent client communication skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• The judgment to recognize when something does not look right and investigate it
• The ability to work independently while communicating effectively with case managers
• A strong sense of urgency when a client is without transportation or facing rental, towing, storage, repair, or total loss problems

We are not looking for someone whose job is simply to make follow up calls.
A successful Property Damage Specialist:
• Knows what needs to happen next on every assigned claim
• Does not allow property damage files to sit without action
• Identifies problems before they become larger problems
• Keeps clients informed throughout the process
• Pushes insurance companies when claims are unnecessarily delayed
• Carefully reviews total loss valuations instead of simply accepting the insurance company’s number
• Protects clients from unnecessary rental, towing, storage, and repair related problems
• Makes sure required DMV filings are completed timely
• Documents the file thoroughly
• Keeps case managers informed without requiring them to manage the property damage process
• Takes ownership of the claim until it is actually resolved
Required Experience
At least 2 years of experience successfully handling property damage claims for a plaintiff personal injury law firmis required.
Prior insurance adjusting experience is helpful but not required.
