Sales & estimating officer | Full time remote | USD $7/hour

We are an Australian engineering and construction company looking for an experienced Sales & Estimating Officer to join our team full time.

This is not a basic appointment setting or cold calling role. We are looking for someone commercially minded who can help manage opportunities from the initial enquiry through to getting a quote in front of the client.

You will work directly with our sales and management team and be involved in:

• Reviewing incoming enquiries and project scopes
• Preparing estimates and quotations
• Reading basic drawings, specifications and tender documents
• Breaking projects down into labour, materials, subcontractors and other costs
• Contacting suppliers for pricing and lead times
• Finding and contacting subcontractors across Australia
• Building relationships with suppliers and subcontractors
• Comparing supplier and subcontractor pricing
• Following up outstanding quotes and opportunities
• Calling existing and prospective clients
• Qualifying leads and understanding what the client actually needs
• Updating pricing and quote information
• Maintaining accurate opportunities and follow ups in our CRM
• Following up clients after quotes have been submitted
• Assisting with tenders and larger project opportunities
• Looking for new sales opportunities and potential clients
• Helping build and maintain our supplier and subcontractor database
• Working with engineering, operations and management to get projects priced correctly
• Helping improve our estimating process as you learn the business

Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, tanks, water infrastructure, mechanical services or another project based industry would be highly regarded.

You don't need to be an engineer, but you do need to be comfortable with numbers, drawings, spreadsheets and technical information.

We are looking for someone who is confident picking up the phone. You should be comfortable calling clients, suppliers and subcontractors rather than relying entirely on email.

Good written and spoken English is essential.

Hours and working environment

This is a full time position at USD $7 per hour.

Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm AEST, with a one hour lunch break.

We operate through ---------- , which is our virtual office. You will be expected to be online and available in ---------- throughout your working hours, just as you would be present in a physical office.

All working hours are tracked through Hubstaff.

Communication and reliability are important. We need someone who is available during their agreed hours and comfortable working directly with management and the wider team.
