Job Description
Aloha! We are a top-producing real estate team on Oahu, looking for a long-term video editor who can grow into a larger role over time. You will help us create useful, engaging YouTube videos for people making real estate decisions in Hawaii.

See the video and thumbnail examples we like:
----------

WHAT YOU WILL EDIT

- Long-form talking-head videos supported by property footage, local B-roll, maps, photos, and graphics for Hawaii buyers and sellers
- Property tours, neighborhood and new-construction videos, and practical videos
- One thoughtfully designed thumbnail for each long-form video, using our brand assets and reference examples
- Roughly one separately paid Short per long-form video, ordered after the long-form receives final approval

WHAT MATTERS MOST

- Story instincts: find the strongest takes, build a clear opening, and keep the video moving naturally
- Clean editing, including dialogue audio, music, color, captions, and pacing
- Clear motion graphics such as maps, comparisons, text callouts, charts, or simple explainers
- Thoughtful, effective thumbnail design that gives viewers a reason to click, works with the video's title, and matches our brand and reference examples
- Good visual judgment: supporting footage should fit Hawaii, the subject, and the people being discussed
- Timely, responsive communication: meet agreed deadlines, reply promptly, and raise questions or potential delays early
- Resourcefulness and ownership: suggest practical solutions when something is missing or unclear, and keep the edit and files organized through final delivery

Thumbnails are a core part of the role. We want a clear idea, strong composition, and readable text at phone size. Use our brand assets and examples as a starting point, and bring your judgment to each video's thumbnail.

Use supplied property footage and local B-roll where relevant. When additional visuals are needed, source or create imagery that fits Hawaii, the subject, and the people being discussed. For a specific property, use its actual footage or photos and flag missing assets rather than substituting another home or inventing one.

AI-assisted visuals and advanced motion graphics are welcome when they help, but are not required in every video. Check AI output carefully for geographic and factual accuracy, natural movement, and visual glitches. Only use results that look realistic and hold up during playback.

TOOLS

Use Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or comparable professional editing software that supports an organized, editable project handoff. We use Google Drive for files and ---------- or an equivalent platform for timestamped review. Tell us which tools you work with; we can agree on the setup together.

HOW WE WORK

- Volume: Two to four long-form videos per month, with room to grow as our team and editor have capacity.
- Footage and first draft: Expect new footage on Tuesdays. The video draft and thumbnail are due within 72 hours of receiving the complete footage and brief.
- We provide: Footage, the video's goal, available outlines or scripts, brand assets, and visual references.
- You lead the edit: Shape the story, choose the strongest takes, source or create appropriate supporting visuals, add graphics, refine sound and color, and design the thumbnail. Bring your creative judgment and flag gaps early.
- Before review: Watch the full edit and check the thumbnail for pacing, spelling, audio, visual accuracy, and brand fit.
- Feedback: We leave consolidated timestamped notes in ---------- or an equivalent platform. You carry those through to the final files.
- Working hours: You manage your own working hours. Revision and Short deadlines are agreed separately and may extend beyond the initial draft window, including into a weekend by agreement. We work asynchronously with one agreed weekly check-in.

PAY AND DELIVERABLES

A few shortlisted applicants will be invited to a $50 USD paid test using our supplied footage: a 3 to 4 minute edit and one thumbnail. We will share the brief and confirm the 72-hour deadline before you begin. Each finalist is paid for completing the agreed test, whether or not they are hired.

$100 USD per standard video package, normally an 8 to 12 minute finished video, including:

1. Within 72 hours: a complete long-form video draft with supporting visuals, graphics, audio, and color work in place, plus one fully designed thumbnail ready for review.
2. After feedback: the final video export and thumbnail, with one main revision and one final correction pass included.
3. At handoff: organized editable video and thumbnail files, relinkable media, and a short delivery note identifying any sourced or AI-assisted assets.

Shorts are $20 each, ordered separately after the long-form video receives final approval. Expect roughly one Short per long-form video. Turn a strong moment into an engaging vertical video with a clear opening, natural pacing, readable captions, and supporting visuals or sound where they help. Deliver a finished vertical export and include its editable sequence in the project handoff. We agree on the number, length, and deadline before you begin.

TO APPLY

Please include all four items below. We’ll only review complete applications, including two relevant video samples and one thumbnail you designed. Please send direct links, not a general portfolio folder.

Start your message with OAHU STORY, then include the following, using existing work for your samples:

1. Only your two most relevant video samples for this role, including at least one talking-head video with supporting B-roll or graphics. Use direct links to those videos rather than a full portfolio folder or a long list. Tell us what you handled and point to one timestamp showing your best work.
2. One thumbnail you designed, with a sentence about the idea behind it.
3. Your editing software, current availability, and when you could start.
4. A short answer: What would you do if the supplied footage did not include an important visual mentioned by the speaker?

If you have polished AI-assisted video work, you may also share a timestamped example and briefly describe your input and cleanup. This is optional.
