Workers Compensation Paralegal

Cardona Law Firm, APC is seeking an experienced and highly organized Workers’ Compensation Paralegal to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience handling California workers’ compensation matters and be comfortable managing cases from intake through settlement.

Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of workers’ compensation matters under attorney supervision.
Communicate regularly with clients regarding treatment, benefits, and case status.
Prepare and file Applications for Adjudication, Declarations of Readiness to Proceed, hearing documents, settlement documents, and other WCAB filings.
Obtain and organize medical records, medical-legal reports, wage information, and employment records.
Calendar hearings, depositions, medical evaluations, deadlines, and follow-up tasks.
Schedule and coordinate QME, AME, and treating physician appointments.
Prepare correspondence to opposing counsel, insurance carriers, medical providers, and lien claimants.
Assist with discovery, deposition preparation, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
Review medical reports and identify outstanding treatment, disability, apportionment, and causation issues.
Maintain accurate and complete electronic case files.
Assist attorneys with preparation for conferences, hearings, and trials.
Qualifications
At least two years of California workers’ compensation paralegal experience.
Working knowledge of WCAB procedures, EAMS filings, and California workers’ compensation terminology.
Applicant-side experience is strongly preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organization, time-management, and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently.
Professional and compassionate approach when communicating with injured workers.
Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
Experience with workers’ compensation case-management software is preferred.
